The College recommends that all laptops used by students meet the minimum specifications to enable suitability for curriculum based activities. College ICT technicians will make every effort to enable connectivity of devices which meet these minimum specifications, assuming there are no technical or other issues outside of their control. An attempt will be made to connect other devices, but parents and students should be aware that connectivity may not be possible if there are technical or other issues.
All students will need local admin access to the machine for the initial on-boarding (connecting). They will also need any software that has been installed to limit their access turned off/removed for the connection to be successful. Once the initial on-boarding is complete you are again able to restrict the student, although some restrictions may still cause issues with their access to the internet from school.

The computer specifications will largely be determined by the classes that the student is in and the software required. Students enrolled in Senior Graphics, ICT, Media or Film & TV subjects are recommended to purchase a device with a dedicated video card – high end devices. These high end devices would be used to support programs such as Autodesk, the Adobe suite. See Minimum Specifications for full subject list requirements.
Please check for and install updates on Windows devices before bringing them to school. Otherwise this may cause you to wait up to an hour and a half for it to finish installing at school.
