Kawana Waters State College has a proud tradition of offering a first-class education to students from all over the world, for almost 25 years, through its International education program.
International students have chosen Kawana Waters for many reasons. In addition to the College's facilities, curriculum and experienced teaching staff, the proximity to a unique coastal environment provides unique opportunities not easily available elsewhere. Our college is located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, set near Lake Kawana, Bokarina Beach and the Kawana Aquatics Centre.
Our Senior School International Student Program began in 1997, when ten students enrolled in Year 11 from The People’s Republic of China (PRC). Each year, approximately 40 international students join this program. We have had students from PRC, Papua New Guinea, Bolivia, Mexico, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Brazil and Italy here to study at Kawana Waters State College. These students are enrolled as a graduate student or a study abroad student. Graduate students study the Australian Curriculum and may go on to study at an Australian university, while study abroad students attend our college for a period of between 3 months to 2 years. They then return to their home country on completion of their studies.
Our College places great emphasis on caring for all students in the school. International students have a home group teacher, a year level coordinator and a guidance officer to look after their needs, as well as a specialist English as a second language teacher to provide important English language and grammar tuition.
Each year international students have become a vital part of the culture at Kawana Waters State College, while gaining academic success and developing and maintaining lifelong friendships.
