NAPLAN

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The 2024 NAPLAN schedule is between 13 and 25 March. 

Our school will complete the online tests from Wednesday the 13th of March to Friday the 15th​​ of March.

NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills that students are already learning at school.

In readiness for the NAPLAN tests in March our school will also be involved in a number of practice sessions.

NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school's assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance; however, students and parents may use individual results to discuss progress with teachers.

Over the coming weeks all students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be asked to ensure:

• their laptop device is fully charged, at school each day and joined to the College network;
• that the device that will be used for testing meets the minimum requirements (general and   technical);
• that the 2024 Locked Down Browser (LDB) is loaded onto their device  (advice will be provided by the school in class and via student email);

• that they have working wired earphones or headphones for all tests including practice tests;

• that they are accessing practice test items to ensure they are able to use the online tools associated with the test.

Kawana Waters State College will use the online format for Tests except for the Year 3 Writing Test.

One of the main benefits of NAPLAN Online is that it uses tailored (or adaptive) testing. This means that students receive questions better suited to their abilities, giving them more opportunity to demonstrate what they know and can do.
