Year 12 Class 2017 - Last 10 Weeks

1/09/2017

We are fast approaching the end of the 2017 school year, and there are a lot of deadlines to meet and events to plan for. On behalf of the senior schooling staff, the College is offering this special bulletin to assist all of us to get organised for this busy time.

Keep the calendar of events on the flip side of this page handy for a ready reference. It will provide answers at those key times when excitement or panic sets in. Most importantly, student success at this stage relies upon attendance at school every day. There are no days offering flexible time off campus.  Please also remember that Week 10 this term (the week after block exams) is a normal school week, and new units of work will be commencing during this time.
In addition to this expectation regarding attendance, students must ensure that all fees are paid and textbooks returned to the school before being issued a ticket to the College formal.
Please find below further information regarding the items highlighted in bold on the calendar.
Term 3
QTAC applications open
Any Year 12 student considering tertiary study (including USC Early Offer Guarantee) must complete a QTAC application. Every Year 12 student who has made an application needs to have this checked by the guidance officer, Mr Cook, before the end of Term 3. Attend to this appointment as soon as possible to avoid the rush. The ‘on time’ date for QTAC applications is during the September school holidays (September 29).
Provisional statements and eligibility reports
These statements will be issued to students during August. All changes must go to the Senior School Placement Officer. Failure to update your details may result in you not receiving your Senior Education Profile documents.
QCST breakfast / QCS test
(all other classes run as normal)
From now until the end of this term, Year 12 students must pay special attention to their workload and keeping healthy. To assist with good brain food before the sitting of the QCST on both the 29 and 30 August, a bbq breakfast will be available between 7.30am and 8am.
Students will be entering the test room (Innovation Hall) at 8.15am. Information regarding test equipment will be released to the students on the 26th July.
Cert I, II Business and WPP classes for identified Year 12 students.
Every Year 12 student completes their schooling with a Certificate II. In Week 10 of Term 3, Year 12 students without a completed Cert II will be attending these special classes, and have already been notified of this commitment.
Term 4
USC Early offer guarantee applications due
Students who wish to take the uncertainty out of tertiary entrance can increase their chances of success by applying for this option. The College submits all applications at once, so students must have their applications in to Mr Cook by the date TBA.
Year 12 Formal
Students must have a semester attendance rate above 92% as well as have met all their financial obligations to the College to attend this event. Extenuating circumstances will be considered.
