Junior secondary

 

 

From 2015 Kawana Waters State College (KWSC) welcomed Year 7 students onto the secondary campus of the College in line with the Education Queensland’s Flying Start initiative.

 
Philosophy
 
Junior Secondary is a time and place where the KWSC community works to ensure that students develop appropriate social connections and a sense of well-being in their educational environment whilst learning and developing skills and behaviours to meet increasing academic and society expectations.

·       Timetable provisions for a wide range of subjects and stronger relationships to be built with core and extra- curricular teachers

·       Expectations of and commitment to high standards for each student
·       Targeted academic excellence/ extension programs (ACE program) with access/ links to the Qld Academies School resources
·       Sport Excellence programs in Football (Soccer) and Aquatics
·       Arts Excellence program (Dance or Drama)
·       Student welfare, support and life skills programs (REDE, Steps, Senior Buddies, Action for Happiness…
·       Goal setting via on line SET planning process
 
Excite … young adolescents about learning, achievement and future opportunities.

·       Access to as suite of extra -curricular activities for J-Sec students (Programming; Robotics; Performing Arts; Sport pursuits…)
·       Technology resources to support innovative and inspiring pedagogy/ teaching
·       Expert team of teachers motivated to get the best from each student
 
 
Students are able to study in the technology computer labs, create in the manual arts
workshops and hospitality kitchens whilst performing in the Performing Arts and Music
centres.
