A team of Kawana Waters State College Film, Television and New Media students received third prize for their short film, Connected, in the Queensland University of Technology’s Student Film Competition. The prize was announced at a special awards ceremony, complete with red carpet, at the QUT Caboolture campus on Thursday 4 May.

The KWSC team, consisting of Year 11 students Jabade Brown-Oakes, Amina Jonischkeit, Janina Mangold, Imogen Mills, Maisy Robson, Leon Sandner, Izaac Watts and Julia Wojtkowiak, was presented with a third place plaque at the awards ceremony, amid a flash of cameras and to the sound of audience applause. As part of their prize, each student also received a $1000 QUT scholarship and $50 gift card. Connected beat out 13 other films entered by schools ranging from the Sunshine Coast to Caboolture to make it into the final three.
