Co-curricular Activities
Our school curriculum is comprised of "all" the learning activities which engage students. Lessons in life can, and should, be learned from active participation in sporting, cultural and social experiences. If we offer an activity, students should learn from it.
Fundamental to the success of our school is the concept of personal identity, or enhancing a students' sense of self, personal value, values, independence, social responsibility and citizenship. Glasser (1997) tells us that throughout our lives we must attempt to live in a way that best satisfies basic human needs. It is often these activities that students tell us this is where they produce quality work or where they feel important.

Instrumental Music, Band and Vocal Group
Students can choose to be part of the Instrumental Program, with instruction in String, Brass and Woodwind. This program is free of charge, and some school instruments are available for beginners. Participation in the instrumental program also involves membership of either the Junior Band, String Ensemble or the Senior Concert Band. A Vocal Group also operates. All of these groups are in demand for local functions and several play outs occur annually.
The music department rehearse weekly for both Junior Band, Senior and Junior Jazz Ensemble. Students interested in joining can enquire at the Junior Campus Music Building or the Senior Campus Performing Arts Building.

Performance
Each year, the Senior School presents a major performance item, following a 3 year cycle. Dance is a significant aspect of the school's program. KDC (Kawana Dance Company) is in great demand for local performances. The Junior School presents a musical every second year.
S.K.I.T (Students of Kawana In Theatre) is the KWSCtheatre company. The companies director is Mrs. Ricki-Lee Bernhardt-Turpin, and company members from all year levels 8 - 12. S.K.I.T rehearse each Wednesday morning in the performing arts building and regularly perform for school and local community events and ceremonies. Any student interested in developing their performin and acting skills, stage presence and self esteem are welcome to audition for a place as a S.K.I.T member. Sport
Years 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 students participate in interschool sport during school time. Year 5, 6 and 7 sport is conducted on Friday afternoon and Year 8 and 9 sport on Wednesday afternoon. Students not in these teams play sport at school. After school competition occurs, either at a school level, or at a local club level, in a large number of sports.

Camps and Excursions
Years 6 and 7 attend a three day curriculum-related Camp in Term One each year.
In Term 1, a challenge camp is held for Year 9 students. In November, a leadership camp is held for Year 11 students. It is at this camp that preparations begin for the selection of Senior leaders.
Excursions relate to curriculum issues, although some (Eg. Theatre experiences and water activities) may be conducted outside of school hours.
